Delhi will host first ‘green’ Commonwealth Games 2010: Delhi CM

Hospitals in Delhi and NCR to launch Medical Tourism packages during the Games


While speaking at a conference organised recently by Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) Northern Chapter in Delhi on ‘Delhi: A world class city in the making’, Sheila Dikshit, Chief Minister, Delhi highlighted the importance of developing a green city. She said that the Delhi government has decided to develop all upcoming infrastructures such as flyovers, stadiums, buildings et al in a green way. For this, the state government will soon release a manual for all agencies, as well as citizens providing information on how to develop green infrastructures.

“We cannot make this city a concrete jungle without any regard to conservation,” opined Dikshit. She further informed that the state will host its first ‘green’ Commonwealth Games in 2010. Prior to this, the Delhi government will organise workshop for which it will invite all institutions and agencies involved in the initiative of organising the Games, to inform them about the state government plans to organise the Games.

Dikshit also pointed out towards the significance of cleanliness and added that the state government will soon bring out posters
